Nora, in "sexy" costume for a church pageant, takes a dare from Ivy to call Compo's bluff and present herself on his doorstep. The unexpected result is that he collapses and has to be rushed to the hospital. Although Clegg and Truly expect the best, Compo dies as the doctors try to save him.
Cleggy and Truly, as well as Nora and Ivy, spend the night remembering him and trying to figure out how to give him a proper send-off.
I weep every time I see this episode. One of the best send offs I've seen of any character.

@47antony Oh, I quite agree - so much emotion in the episode. If you when Truely sits down in the hospital, PS takes a few seconds to react

Yes, sadly he had already died when this episode was made. He died days after the filming of last pigeon and post.

It is a shame we don't actually see Compo's reaction when he answered the door
to Nora in chorus girl clothes. Had Bill Owen already died when this episode was filmed, or was he just too ill to film?

@IrishKyokushin Magic and teh Morris Minor was the last episode with him in it. However, the last episode he filmed was Last Post and Pigeon which was a millenium special. HE died a few days after that wrapped.
