Obviously, this doesn't apply to people who are just ignorant about the English vocaloids.

  • Why didn't you pick a song sang by an Engloid for this video?

  • @ExileChan ...dunno. I think I was listening to that song while I was making this.

  • I find that since there's a much wider variety of songs sung by the Japanese Vocaloids, there's a larger variety of songs to hear. While the English Vocaloids are not nearly as bad as people make them out to be (I completely adore Oliver), there's no significant amount of notable songs from them. They're just not as. . . interesting. Not that many songs, not much of a fandom, very little artwork around them. The Japanese Vocaloids are a lot easier to grow fond of. ^_^

  • @lyralights This is true and I agree with you. Though there are a few good songs created using the English Vocaloids and there's actually a LOT of fanart of Big Al, especially by the Japanese fandom, the fandom for the English Vocaloids just isn't as big or powerful.

But I see that as a problem to be corrected. They have the potential to be used as well as or even better than the Japanese Vocaloids have been.

  • I love all the Vocaloids besides nobody's perfect.

  • It's true that none of the vocaloids sound quite realistic :/ I think that it's because of the pronunciation. All of them sound so robotic or choking when they sing some phonemes. For example, Luka usually sounds quite choking and muffled and Rin and Len used to do it too before they got their append. But I still like them all because their voices are so pretty. Besides, I think that this vocaloid 3 generation will sound way better. Mew and Gumi's extend sound great to me, and Oliver and Seeu...

  • I actually like all of them. The only reason why I listen more to the Japloids is because I like their voices more. (BUT! Miriam is one of the most awesome Vocaloids ever.) I think how understandable the songs are depends on the producers. English Vocaloids can sound pretty realistic, while japanese ones are absolutely NOT realistic in some songs...

  • Stop saying "English is a more complex language so it's harder to synthesize."

It's more complex but when you put it like that you basically say "They can't help that they suck."

Vocaloid can recreate English almost perfectly, you just have to manually tweak the phonemes to get the pronunciation right. You can't throw in the lyrics and call it a day.

So say "English is harder to be completely synthesized by a computer" instead.

Plus all languages have problems when it comes to being synthesized.

  • Can someone please tell me what the song is and who it's by?

  • I have noticed some of the songs sound weird....Rin and Len's Romeo and Cinderella sounds.....I dunno can't describe iit, but it sounds mechanical.

  • I believe everybody has their own opinions, but seriously, hating on computer program doesn't make any sense. I LIKE all of the Vocaloids. Do I like some more than others? Sure! And that's okay! No need for hatred people. Besides, I think a lot of people abuse the Vocaloid programs. Songs that talk about sex and other inappropriate things are not necessary for a computer to sing. -.-'

  • I believe all VOCALOIDs can sound realistic if the user knows how to use each VOCALOID. Heck, even Leon could sound realistic if used right. Also Japanese is a lot simpler than English so I can see why the English VOCALOIDs are harder to understand. But it just depends on how the user uses them :3

  • @lyralights What popular though is not always better. Its very hard for English vocaloid to get support and though their populairty is slowly raising, as one Prima user recently pointed out, he had to stop using her because no one wanted his music with a Vocaloid singing in it. Of course this is not the same all round, but it is a familair tone here in the west. Vocaloid is often held back by tradionalism over technology, even in Japan most of the population is not sure of it.

  • @lyralightsWell, the craze was in Japan and the most major problem that prevents the Engloids getting anywhere in Japan is the language barrier, very few can use them. By the time they came into light, Miku and co were already popular and the first reaction to them was bad anyway. Anti-English Vocaloid fans tend to use the popularity of the Japanese Vocaloid as "proof" their better then English Vocaloids when the reality is there is little between them.
