  • Did you tighten up all the bolts as you went after each section was squared? Wind here will be a problem at times if I don't tighten up all the bolts as I go. Can't see leaving bolts out, will end up in next county.

  • @IronAngel1964

Yes, we tightened them as we went. I used the IBC (industrial base connector), so that helped keep it square. At the end I might have loosened some of the end rows while propping it up to the right height, then tightened them. A pnuematic butterfly wrench was th eonly way to go assembling the building. :-)

  • We used the kit Steelmaster offers; we used the 6" R19. It comes with pins/plates that bolt on every 3rd bolt up and over each arch. The insulation then gets 'stabbed' onto the pins, and a plate then goes on the pin to hold it in place. All the seams get taped. It seems to be working well; I haven't used a lot of propane yet this year. Putting the insulation up was do-able for 2 people, but it was probably the most difficult part of the whole build. But we are happy with the end product!

  • The erection of the building took approx 4 weekends with 3 people on it. A little work was done on some evenings after work by 1 or 2 of us, but the majority of the work was on the weekends. The whole projects spanned 3 months or so as the site was wooded and I cut all the trees, then had it excavated and the foundation poured. The endwalls/doors were probably another weekend

This year we insulated it and heated it, and I am absolutely loving it! :-)
