Manodj and I have been friends for 23 years now. We have shared many highs and lows but I am still proud to call him my best friend! First and foremost in our friendship has always been having fun. Music has always been a close second. Add to that our younger days being in the nineties and you end up with what you see in this video.
We have always been beatboxing and challenging each other for as long as I can remember. When I saw the videos by Mike Tompkins with his produced acapella covers I thought that was really awesome and thought immediately that I should do this someday with Manodj. When Manodj came to my studio we had not planned anything but somehow we very quickly started to whistle the song Infinity when we remembered the nineties. We recorded a plethora of sounds (including the whistling of course, although I forgot to mention it in the final slide...) and noises and a whole lot of laughter. I then worked on it on and off for the last six months in between my other music projects not knowing where this was leading. At some point it really came together and I am actually quite proud of the final audio track that I was able to produce.
When last month we went to a concert, the next day in the early morning before going to work we had so much fun remembering the old days and shooting video material in Manodj's house for the video production of Infinity. The video now clearly shows the friendship we have always shared and I am happy to say is still very much alive today.
So it is with pride that I introduce to you a special guest: my best friend Manodj Mathoera. With many thanks to Mike Tompkins (http://www.youtube.com/user/pbpproductions) for inspiring us to actually do this and bring our lifelong beatboxing into the world via YouTube. I hope you'll have as much fun watching this as we did creating it.
