The Keg Coat is made of a specially designed sheet of gel packs which are placed in the freezer prior to use. The Gel pack sheet is inserted into a proprietary nylon blend jacket which is wrapped around the keg and held in place with Velcro. The Keg Coat is designed to fit a standard size half-barrel keg (Canadian or U.S. kegs), but can also be used effectively on smaller sized keg too. Just wrap it around the smaller keg so that the Keg Coat overlaps itself. This will cause a smaller keg to get colder even faster and stay cold even longer.
Not only is warm beer unpleasant to drink, warm temperatures are the enemy of unpasteurized keg beer. Unless keg beer is kept cold, once the keg is tapped, the beer inside can go bad in only a few hours. Dormant bacteria becomes active above 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Plus a manual keg pump introduces air into the keg. Oxygen from the air will react more quickly with the beer inside if the beer is warm causing the beer to go bad more quickly. The Keg Coat will keep the beer cold longer, keeping it fresh for as long as possible. This means less waste.
