Super Mario World: Valley Ghost House secret exit, Directional coins method

In the second room, use the P-Switch, run to the right, all the way to the last door. Get the next P-Switch, go to the right, hit the directional coins ? block, hit the P-Switch, then go up as in the video.

How do you redirect the coins? I've tried about 5 times and still can't get it to work, never really knew you could do that

Dear lord I would have never guessed that you could direct the coins I thought it was just luck of the draw with direction of the coins

Haha! You wanna know how I did it? I did it the old fashioned brute force way. I flew up there with the cape. It took weeks of trying, but if you get it just right.... I knew even back then that the directional coins was likely the real way to do it, but flying in there seemed easier to do.

Yeah, I can't direct the coins either! I just jump through them and the keep going straight until they hit the wall. I'm very frustrated.
