DEAR ENTIRE POPULATION OF THE FAROE ISLANDS: I BEG YOU TO READ THIS BEFORE POSTING ABOUT THIS VIDEO'S HORRIBLE LIES.

How this 1989 cinema ad got a U certificate I don't know. If anything, the fact that the carnage is animated makes it even more disturbing.

Note the use of the technique also seen in the BUAV ad - no slogan, just fade to black, fade up organisation name, overdub horrible noise.

Voiceover by noted whale enthusiast Anthony Hopkins. Frankly bizarre fact: the Red Hot Chilli Peppers video "Behind the Sun", released a couple of years after this ad was around, uses a lot of this animation for some reason.

This ad, it's worth reiterating, is old. Two full decades out of date, meaning it predates the blunt gaff for heaven's sake. Since it came out, more humane techniques have been introduced into the Grind as a whole. And even given the outdated information, you're advised to take the ad with a grain of salt; the last claim in particular is highly dubious.

Though I dislike whaling, particularly the sort of freewheeling mass slaughter the Japanese seem to enjoy, I carefully step away from the Grind because I don't know enough about it to judge it; and what I do know doesn't convince me that it's any worse than killing cows and sheep and eating those, which I do all the time (the eating part).

You could mistake me for a vegetarian based on some of my uploads, but I'm not; I'm a meat eater who despises inhumane farming.

I uploaded the clip because of the technique rather than the message; I don't represent the WDCS, and I disclaim all responsibility for and connection with the message in this (old, out of date, inaccurate) advertisement. Make your own research if you're an outsider interested in these issues.

Also, to reiterate, it's from 1989. It predates the blunt gaff. It is OLD.

For some reason, Venom has linked to this. Well, Eddie Brock, actually, and he's not bonded with the Venom symbiote anymore, but still, it's very strange.

The Faroese people have been doing this for centuries, the people catch the whales and share it among the people on the island for food only and not for commercial reasons, nothing goes to waste or rots. unlike in the US where millions of cows, pigs and chickens are raised in poor conditions then slaughtered just to be sold in fastfood restaurants. Just For Money. If Corporate America had their slimy little fingers in the whale killings then americans would say "DAMN IT'S A GOOD BURGER" Yeah!!!
