It is not the officer's role to be the expert - that belongs to the Chief and enlisted. An officer's role is to be manager and a leader, although occasionally we do clean! You cannot talk about the Armed Services unless you have been in. Basing your whole opinion of the Navy on the opinion of another is not the intelligent way to make your point. guayaquil47, I hope that you encounter a Navy officer that is able to change your opinion of us. witch brings me to a funny story. a few years back right out of boot "u kno back when u fear any1 above e4, and think the navys a bunch of assholes" . i went to a coc for some capt. and this 01 slick chest come up to a csbm, and informs him that he needs to move around some chairs. so the chief flicks his medals and asks "you hear that", to wich th 01 replies yes, then the cheif repiles "it sounds like shout the fuck up and do it your self sir". 01's response he did it his fucking self

but at the same time im allmost done with school. and if my packets ever approved id be in ocs quick. ive allso seen first had prior enlisted officers. are better "even if not by talent ect.." because they can connect with there enlisted counterparts. no1 wants to mop shit for some1 whos never had to do it themself. and just me but chiefs should get paid more than 01-04 cause they run the show anyways and who hasnt seen a chief tell a LTanything to go fuck himself.

i think people that dont respect officers are just pissed they didnt go to school. but at the same time "keep in mind im selres" theres pleanty of officers that dont do shit. ex the 04@5's that have been in for years and only have a ndsm and possibly a nam. where as us enslisted guys get deployed all the time have 5x the awards and 1/4 the pay. guayaquil47 has a point if i see a con on an officers chest my devotion to follow his orders far out weighs the others.

I woknow everyone gets tired of answering these questions but Im halfway through college at UA and Im seriously considering OCS in the navy. Im simply wondering if those that went through it think it was worth it? Did the 4 years eclipse a suburb desk job? Also SWO or aviation?

Right. But if one person in uniform fucks up, everybody pays for it. Recruiters are having trouble to get volunteers. I waste 4 years listening to these dumb motherfuckers. Peace

Sorry Sir :-P you are an officer of the Navy at only 22 years old? Did you made the normal Accademy or you're officer just for 2 years? I ask because in Italy who has a degree can become officer but can became maxium a Captain and no more, they can't comand a unit, only office duty. To become a real officer on board you've to do the Academy, that finish when you're 25 years old.

I agree that an officer obtains respect by his or her actions. We all know that there is still racism in the military that is not new and people know that. Officers who abused their powers should be ashame of themself's because they are wearing the uniform that other proud man and woman wear to serve this country in a respectful and brave way. "a small group of apples wont spoiled the rest"
