  • What is the size of that ring tool you are using? I'm going to get one myself and that size seems pefect. Great video by the way.

  • its 12mm...

  • Nice Job. That is a very impressive piece of turning and technique. How do you finsih (sand) something like that?

  • No need to sand if you do it correctly and your tools are sharp enough. But if for some reason there is need to sand, then its to trash and new piece of wood :)

  • I have tried to make several of these and i have broken every one of them, when i turn the essentric part. I have tried oak, maple, cherry and wenge in hopes of strength but no luck. What wood are you using, and what rpm's are you turning at?

  • I am using birch and about 2000 rpm in lathe, but it's not really about the wood its the technique :) just concentrate to watch the outer figure of of the piece when it is turninbg, i.e. imagine it as it would be full (not sure how to explain this....)

  • Beautiful job Antti! I hate to say I still need sand paper. Do you have other videos out there specific to tool sharpening? Thanks Skip

  • Not that Quickness of cutting someting is the most important, because it is not but that is the quickest cutting on a lathe I think I have ever seen without damage to the project. I am not talking about RPM's, I am talking about start to finish work time. - You clearly have a lot of experience and know the limits of all involved. I think the sharpness of your tools are supreme and your chuck design is improtant. You talent / technique of course, is evident in your quickly done project. AAA+++
