It's amazing that this was considered Olympic level gymnastics! Great video!

@theadditude dude yeah if I were around in this area I would have definitely tried out for Olympic gymnastics!

where did you get this? my grandparents are Irma and Frank Haubold and they were the 1st married couple to participate in the 1936 Olympics. I'd love to get footage of them.

great to see the difference between then and now. So much has changed over the years.

I never did gymnastics, but I did do ballet for 11 years. And I can tell you the slower more controlled movements were much harder than just jumping high or spinning fast. Granted it's not as fun to watch.

Even a level four win that Olympics. Btw are they using spring boards to vault and did they do floor or just beam bars and vault?
-
wtf? i think gymnastics in schools is now more difficult

I almost fell asleep watching this....I could of even went to the Olympics with my skill level if I was living back then. haha

Is this Leni Riefenstahl's film?

@lilmissunperfect21 I think it is just a block of wood to give the women more height. theres no spring or rebound at 2:08. and damn i still laugh at the girl tripping over the vault.
actually this is from 1952, it's from and old documentary called "Human Grace Gymnastics 1952"
it's on youtube somewhere just search it.

@bbhouk1
I watched the documentary. the narrator says that these routines are from the olympic games, but i'm sure he doesn't mean the 1952 one. I have footages from the 1952 olympics and it wasn't that same stadium at all, it was even a closed one not an open air like that...
