The Wall, Live In Berlin was filmed at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin,
Germany on July 21, 1990. Potsdamer Platz was the "no man's land"
that sat between the two Berlin walls which separated East from
West. By the time of the concert, 250,000 tickets had been sold
in advance and over 50 countries had signed on to broadcast the
concert live. For fear of riots and injury, the concert gates
eventually had to be taken down letting in an extra 100,000
people for free. The concert would also serve as a benefit
for The Memorial Fund for Disaster Relief.
The opening sequence showing the enormous stage, the massive white
wall, already 3/4 built, and the vast sea of people was quite
awe-inspiring. For the opening number, "In The Flesh,"
the Scorpions are delivered to the stage
(which is basically a two lane highway) via a white, stretch limo.
What better band to open the show than Germany's own Scorpions,
who were still one of the biggest metal bands on the planet in 1990.
From there, it is a non-stop appearance of musicians and actors
who were brought in to sing the songs, and act out the parts.
This was more of a grand theater production, on the grandest of
scales, than an actual rock concert.
Ute Lemper, a successful German singer and stage actress, takes
the lead on "The Thin Ice" and sings beautifully

1. In the Flesh - Scorpions
2. Thin Ice - Ute Lemper, Roger Waters
3. Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 1 - Roger Waters

  • The schoolmaster's role in this song is the best supporting singer in the whole concert. And he's not even fantastic. I've watched the whole concert now and although I worship The Wall incredibly, I cannot say anything else than that I am very disappointed in the choices of covering artists in this show. I feel that none of them has understood the concept or their own role in it. Wailing, making songs samba-style, etc.

The schoolmaster is the ONLY person who interpreted his role correctly.

im very intrueged at your comment, i agree with you, however, i only agree to an extent, i think that yeah, Roger could have chosen better singers, but in 1990, the singers were more or less at the top of there game, i think bryan adams, van morisson, ute lemper and the scorpions all do well, and of course the band, im a huge fan of pink floyd and the wall myself, i find it hard to remember sometimes that this concert has nothing to do with pink floyd, it is after all a charity gig.

  • Está faltando a 8ª parte do show

  • why could mother not do it in time?

  • where is part 8...... not fair man...was having such a good trip... and no part 8.....

  • wow... i love Pink Floyd... but the judge's singing during this was lame as shit. I was expecting him to be powerful and yell!!!!

  • Two of the worst symbols in modern history combined… The hammer and sickle and the goosestep we have forgotten indeed

  • The only thing that would have made the end of "Waiting For The Worms" better would have been to have actual 50 ft tall hammers walk across the stage

  • roger waters is the best !!!!!

  • I think the studio version of The Trial is better... I mean; Tim Curry's ok, as is the teacher; but the rest of them SUCK.

The orchestra and choir add the extra backing needed; but I've already talked about the characters.

  • who ever played the judge fucking sucks

  • 00:20 WTF!? Did they predict 9/11?
