UP 844 and more on the Union Pacific Overland Route

Train 1: UP 844 comes into Ledgepole NE for maintenance.

Train 2: UP 4500 leads a hot stack train through Hershey NE.

Train 3: UP 5919 leads a coal drag west to split onto the Coal line just to the west.

Train 4: UP 5969 takes a loaded Coal train into North Platte.

Train 5: UP 6650 heading towards the coal cutoff just to the west with train 6 racing right behind.

Train 6: UP 7759 speeds up to pass train 5 on its way west.

Train 7: UP 5517 leads a massive stack train west. Two Ferrormex GEVO's in consist.

Train 8: UP 6476 speeds its coal train up along side Train 7.

That looks like a great location to watch many trains.

That kid looked like he was having a blast. He didn't ruin the shot at all.

Watching doublestacks/TOFC overtake hoppers on triple track is interesting, but not as unusual as seeing the reverse as shown later. Thanks for capturing these.

BTW, Re: kids and trains, Don't tell me you've never chased a train on foot as a kid. I thought a kid running alongside a steam engine was a slice of Americana and made the shot better. I hate it when someone steps into my shot just as much as the next guy, but kids love trains with simple abandon and they don't know why you'd be mad.
