Actually, no. This is the minor pentatonic scale, which is not "all black keys." I assume your "BFD" is about a pentatonic scale in general. Perhaps for you only scales with more divisions "are worthy", like on a piano? But classical Indian (Asian) and Byzantine music, for example, have many more divisions than the Western scale, make the piano "simple". The pentatonic scale is one of the world's oldest ways of dividing the octave. Jazz and rock use it.Sorry you can't appreciate its beauty.

I am in the market for a drone flute... in your opinion how would the western cedar compare to the spalted poplar in this model from Kuzin? Thanks so much.... wonderful songs!!!

@Strosester Not sure about a Western cedar drone as I've never heard one, but I imagine that would sound splendid. I can certainly vouch for the poplar flute featured here, though. This wood is harder than cedar, so the sound is somewhat sharper & clearer than that of regular Western cedar flutes that I have. Both would make a suitably pleasing sound, so I'd say it's really *your* call based on which you personally prefer. (I have to add here that I *love* the aroma of western cedar...)
