  • @victoriatlatelpa Do you have a vocational school that acts like a highschool? you can go there as one

  • @711nong I've never heard of being certified to euthanize. For the most part, it just depends on your state. In some states it's illegal for vet techs to euthanize animals. In a normal clinical setting, vet techs rarely perform euths, it's usually the vets. VT's may assist by restraints or preparing the solution, but they rarely administer it. In lab settings, vet techs may be required to euthanize.. it just depends on the job/state.

  • @Lisy8195 Same here! I was wanting to be a Veterinarian but their really is nooo way I'm gonna be able to handle the whole "surgery" part and being so serious, lol. So I think i'm gonna go for a Veterinarian Technician since its more of providing "love" for the animals and less blood. Ya i'm gonna have to work on the whole blood part. Cuz I cant even stand seeing my own blood, ughgh ;)

  • @bleedingxhearts2 The Chem machine usually requires 1-2ccs of blood. The CBC machine (calculates the total blood cell count) requires 1 cc of blood. After working in the veterinary field for 4 years, you learn the easiest way to pull blood.

  • @bleedingxhearts2

Cat veins are harder to pull from because they are so tiny and the needles are usually too large. Even using the smallest needle, which is 25 gauge, is difficult to pull blood with. She pulled from the jugular because it is an easier target and blood usually flows faster there. Also she did not pull a gallon of blood, she pulled 3mL (3ccs) of blood. Depending on what tests they needed to run, it can require that much.

  • I start clinic rotations on Monday. I'm terrified of the cats. When we did feline handling in class we got an INSANE cat that scared the crap outta me.

  • two things why did she take the blood from the neck?! also why did she have to take roughly one gallon of blood from a ten pound cat

  • i have three bearded dragons, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 1 turtle, 1 beta, and my friends horse i take care of when he is on vacation

  • im 12 years old and i want to be a veteran all my life i have been saving animals finding them homes if they are strays i have help with my parents im caring loving and love animals no matter what they are <3
