    Actually, nVidia cards work much better with Linux than the newer ATI cards do... All nVidia cards are now supported with the nouveau free driver.

    He's right. My HD6950 has given me trouble with multiple different distros. Even the proprietary drivers suck.

    Both companies need to get their shit together.

    for me Nouveau drivers have never worked well, they give low resolution or even worse some times they give you black screen after installation. fortunately I found somewhere a script that does all the hard work and everything required in order to install proprietary drivers from nvidia. Proprietary drivers have always worked much better for me with quite high resolution. Right now I am not aware of a better solution compared to proprietary.

    I'm running 2 very old ATI Radeon HD 3870's with Windows x64_x86 XP,Vista,& 7 also Kali,Blackbuntu,Ubuntu 13.04,Backtrack5R3 & Arch Linux OS's in dual boot and VM's also not too mention that I also play very taxing games like Skyrim,ARMA 3,LeagueOfLegends aka LOL,FlightSimulator X,&Auran Trainz Sim2012 with ZERO Lag and ALL that set aside I still have plenty more processing power to even run my FREE Blender 3D modeling program while running Other OS's in the background
