Soloflex freeweights are rubber coated and have urethane grips. They are by far the most comfortable and quietest available, and will not damage floors and clang like metal weights. This can be very important for apartment dwellers. While less well known as other adjustable systems, most after trying them all develop a strong preference for the Soloflex version. Having also owned the Bowflex variety, spinlock handled dumbbells, Powerblocks, and tried the Ironmaster, Hoist, and other brands, I will stick with and strongly prefer the Soloflex version.

Also unique to Soloflex is the Compound Barbell with its rotating handles. The Gaspari rotating Barbell and Supra Barbells aren't even close to being in the same league. The Soloflex Compound Barbell is extremely tough, comfortable, balanced and well made piece of equipment of extremely high quality. It has to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

Both the barbell and handweights are much easier for people with joint, tendon, and arthritic pain to deal with.

  • one word -- Ironmaster

I'm not even kidding. I will not bother pasting links here, but anyone who is not lazy enough to look it up will have his jaw drop over how amazing it is. Everything they make is modular and super-customizeable and their dumbbells make you wanna work out!

  • @emil3m1 The Soloflex dumbbells are far more comfortable than the Ironmaster product. The Compound barbell with rotating handles is unlike anything else made. Superior to the Gaspari and Supra bars. This item is nearly impossible to find, so is the rack, and sell for big bucks. Soloflex rubber plates can also be used on other barbells and dumbbells. Many people that have tried both prefer the Soloflex setup. On the Soloflex Forever site the pros and cons of the Ironmaster products are discussed.

  • Oh wow I guess for quality you really gotta come out you pockets -_-

  • @nthug37 the people that have them, love them. The Barbell with stand and 70 pounds of rubber freeweights retailed at 654 plus tax and shipping. An outstanding made in USA piece of equipment. At that price out of reach for most that wanted it. A lot of labour went into it, and it is very strong and well made. Far superior to the Gaspari Arm Bar. It also weighs 28 pounds.

  • Are they still selling I'd love to have a set of each in the near further

  • @nthug37 They still make the dumbbells and the new version of the bench has different leg attachments, from the WBV board, the older one is from the Muscle Machine bench. Unfortunately the compound barbell and freeweight rack is no longer available. They used to sell a 170 pound dumbbell package for around $500. Now a 70 pound set is available for around $400 from soloflex. Great stuff, but the price has become a little steep.

  • the product is great my dad designed a few such as the compound barbell the soloflex will never let you down

  • I should have gotten one when i had the chance. I love my soloflex handweights.

  • @Mbhil The 170 pound set used to be available for $500, pricey, but worth it. Now the 70 pound set is priced at $400. I've tried many different adjustable dumbbells, these are by far the most comfortable. My second choice on adjustable dumbbells are the Ironmaster product. I do not like the Powerblock or Bowflex dumbbells at all. Most that have the Compound Barbell say that it is their favorite piece of equipment. Not available anymore and was expensive to make. Rolls Royce is overpriced too.
