@crazy4corbinbleux when people list them...they list them as influences of their time...it's no ones fault that they the icons of influence...jamming the culture to their artistry at the same time...he also said Aretha, Luther as well. Before rap became the signature of R&B the artists he named were the face of black music in 80-90's. If anyone lists artists that influences them...it's a credit to the artist impact on the culture. It's not a condemnation.

@crazy4corbinbleux U got all that out of what was said? To me its just someone answering the question honestly without going on and on and on about it making sure to carefully disect to seperate them. Dont read into something not there...no diss...

Why do people always put Prince and Stevie Wonder next to Michael Jackson?? It just pisses me off.. it's like if somebody asks who inspires you, you automatically say "Michael Jackson (followed by) Prince" .. THEY ARE THEIR OWN PEOPLE.. just cause they were both pop singers in the 80s don't mean they are the same.

You don't have to be black to have soul aka to be able to sing R&B the right way and to be truly in touch with it, just like you don't have to be white in order to speak proper english. People need to get a grip and stop looking for an explanation for Robin being able to sing the way he does, yes his mother Gloria Loring is a singer as well but no she is not black Google it people I mean come on seriously. Just enjoy the music and accept it for what it is w/o the bias and anal-lyzing.
