Now those are happy ferrets, well done.

Yeah, I can understand that.
I wouldn't of taken them out if it was just me, and I believe that the surpise of running around in the snow proved much more intresting than anything else that they would come across.
If I was you I'd get him a lead, also see if you can find a product called 'Ferretone' and train him than them that returning on voice commands comes with a delicious treat! it's much easier to get them to return/stop once trained like this.

@hottyboy315 Get him a harness and lead, it's what I do because I know that my ferret would run off chasing things otherwise.

@7Bleeeh7 I don't know how you trust them not to run away. I take my ferret out on his lead and he will walk nice for a bit, but if he smells something interesting he will go crazy and run as fast as he can (I run with him) to get to the smell. He once bolted across a large field, and only stopped because I pulled his lead to slow him and pick him up. He then did the same run again the moment I put him down. Don't know what he could smell but he was obsessed.

@CamighLeigh.
My ferrets are only really worked in winter, and they both have thick working coats. As long as you make sure they are dry when putting them away, you are pretty safe to play with them as long as they look happy and playful in the snow.
