@Yeagizzo regarding S-video, yes it is outdated, much like this video which was made nearly 4 yrs ago. And if I want to stream 1080p from my laptop, I simply plug in an HDMI cord which comes standard on most laptops these days. No need for all the additional adapters to connect Thunderbolt to all the different peripherals. As far as disc drives, they are becoming obsolete, except for installing software bought from a store maybe.

Why do pcs crash and get viruses while macs are immune? It's coz pcs suck! Your mate (who is clearly a dumb arse) just needs to download a free codec for Quicktime or a media player like VLC or MPlayerX for his Mac. Just like you would have to on a PC because neither a Mac or a PC will play all video formats straight out of the box.
