The thing about this scene is that there would not have been that many channels to surf. There was ABC, CBS, & NBC, and that is it.

@SarcasticSun You need to remember though, many of the MGM stars took uppers and downers. I believe she was a very strong,yet very sensitive person.She wanted to please everybody,and she had so many movies and live appearances to do. There weren't re-habs back then, and she was one of the unfortunate ones who became addicted.She also drank a great deal.You have to reach a point where you have to help yourself, because blaming others all your llife won't save you. I adored her,though.
