A Lauten Oceanus and Horizon Microphone pair are arranged with the Glyn Johns Method Mic Setup on a Drum Kit. This mix, which includes a Fender Rhodes Mark I, is completely dry and unprocessed. You can hear how incredible these mics from Lauten Audio sound in a natural space, without any artificial reverb, EQ, or Compression. This is just a preview of what the Lauten Microphones can do on a drumkit. Look for our videos that take in depth look at the Oceanus and Horizon on drums. We demonstrate how the mics sound in and out of the studio, completely dry, as well as with some processing. Look for more incredible performances by Drummer Ken Carter and Keyboard player Tony Witherspoon. If you would like to learn more about these microphones from Lauten Audio, give the experts at Sound Pure a call today. 919.682.5552

  • @AAMetalXJON Oops, sorry. For this part of the drum shoot we actually didn't use the Phoenix DRS-8, you'll soon hear another section of drums in our in depth Lauten drum video that does utilize the Phoenix. But, for this particular setup, we actually used Oceanus > Vintech X73i > Lynx Aurora and Horizon > Great River MP2NV > Lynx Aurora as the recording chains. Sorry for any confusion.

  • @AAMetalXJON Good question- it's not a secret, although the full video will be a lot more clear about it, I think... anyhow, it was the Lauten Microphones shown into a Phoenix DRS-8 Mic Preamp, into our trusty Lynx Aurora Converters... very.very simple. Just Great Mics, Pre's, and Converters... funny thing is that while the room has a cool sound, it is not treated in any way (it's the lobby of our facility, not part of the studio)

  • @soundpurestudios Out of interest, what the recording chain here? Or is that being kept for the full video?

  • @AAMetalXJON Thanks man- it's fun to record in there... it's pretty wild, but a lot of fun with the right mics and positioning for sure. Thanks for the comment!

  • That room sounds incredible!

  • @Bastasbra Thanks! These Oceanus microphones are sounding killer!
