Dave Swarbrick is still very much alive! This is from the warm-up show at Woodford Halse Social Club, prior to the Cropredy Festival. It's the 1970 Fairport line-up (Dave Swarbrick, Richard Thompson, Simon Nicol, Dave Pegg, Dave Mattacks) joined by Gerry Conway as a second drummmer.

  • I forgot how good this was - it was a great show!

  • dave at his best

  • @MITCHWILD with the greatest of respect, that's a couple too many.

  • a triumph of personality over practise and talent

  • Great track, met Swarb after a Fairport gig in the 70s when I was a teenager and he very kindly let me try his violin! nice guy great player!

  • I disagree with every word, i cant imagine Fairport Convention without Dave Pegg, and as for him being the most talented, he is talented for sure, but you have Richard Thompson and Dave Swarbrick, two of the most talented musicians in the world on the same stage.

Richard Thompson is the best Guitarist to ever come out of England, his Knowledge of the instrument is unsurpassed

Obviously not your type of music.

I only had a couple of Jethro Tull albums,

i own every Fairport album. and Thompsons.

  • that is awful, save the screetch fiddle for the bluegrass they like that kinda crap

  • My congrats to Dave Swarbrick for keeping the beat going when the audience participation was behind the beat. Been there and I know how hard it is. Dave's variations of Mason's Apron are very amazing!

  • Fantastic !!

  • Each to their own. I was raised on this stuff since the womb and still harbour a secret desire for Simon Nicholl ;-)
