Ghostworld Intro/ 'Jaan Pechan Ho' Song from 1965 Bollywood film, Gumnaan

Loved this scene from a 60's Indian film which Terry Zwigoff excerpted to kick off the opening credits of his film GHOSTWORLD. Fantastic music and a great kitschy musical number. Apparently this is the best scene in the entire 1965 film, Gumnaan. Everyone wants to know is the band really, 'Ted Lyons and His Cubs.' as it says on the drums Somehow I think not, but its a great name! I think the bad choreography is genius (is that a non-sequitur?) Finally found out a great deal about Gumnaan here. Check it out

Using this "movie within a movie" was a brilliant way to open Ghostworld, intercutting this song and musical number with short glimpses into people's lives as the camera pans past windows of houses before coming rest in the room of one of his main characters, played by Thora Birch. Enjoy and rent Ghostworld if you've never seen it: Its a well directed great indie film with 3 terrific performances from Thora Birch, Steve Buscemi, and a young and still very natural Scarlett Johansson.

@TheNOSTALGICDECAY its an old Bollywood style where they were trying to come up with a music on which people can dance.Definitely its western but with an Indian touch so that song will go down well with Indians who were still not ready for western style. you can find this kind of music from 50's till 70's of Indian movies.one of the ways to show high class and rich Indians in the movies.Story based on people from poor background or from village had old traditional melody songs.
