Roo explores one of the best run & gun games ever made - and one that didn't originally make it to America - with Alien Soldier. This game has it all: Tons of bosses, great weapons, a cyborg chicken... In fact, you could call the game not just a gem, but a "treasure". Yuk yuk yuk, thanks folks, we'll be here all week. Try the veal!

  • Falco?

  • Can't deny it, Xenogears was pure awesome. One of my top 5 JRPGs of all time, probably #2 (second to Xenoblade Chronicles).

  • treasure is the best developer!

  • fucking awesome

  • Treasure is badass.

  • ... I see what you did there... :)

  • @321cheeseman So the console wars was kinda pointless when you think about it.

  • Alien Soldier all the way. Let the word be heard of this game as much as possible!

  • Great game. Best part? You can get it on steam with Gunstar Heroes and a bunch of other games.

  • Genesis and SNES each had their strengths. One is not overall better than the other.

There is truth to the IDEA of blast processing. The Genesis WAS, IN FACT, the faster system. This made it the console of choice for action games, with its higher resolution, the ability to have much faster-paced gameplay (compare Contra III to Hard Corps, Super Castlevania IV to Bloodlines, or the different versions of Earthworm Jim), and the ability to have far more sprites on screen at a time.
