At the start of his career, Zino toured with Maurice Ravel, both on the mainland and in England.
This would make him very knowledgeable of the latter's compositions.

I relate to what you call "non-aggressive". But to me it's a matter of incredible musicianship and taste. Who says a gypsy violinist must be vulgar?--as are most interpretations of this piece!
Magical--too bad the pianist is not always up to the task...

Thank you for posting this wonderful version of Tzigane! Mr. Francescatti toured some with Ravel during the twenties according to some of my liner notes. Francescatti has given a faithful rendering according to Ravel
He was a superb violinist.
