What about the phenols produced when the light is simply left on? Those are neurotoxins too.

CFL Bulbs Ingredients - ALL CFLS IN U.S.A ARE MADE IN CHINA
-.5 grams of mercury(nerveous system and neuron failure),
- white phosperous (deadly to lung tissue burns no contact istant lung cancer scares)
- below grade class container quality due to no regulation on Chinese manufacturers.
- below grade balast (bottom of bulb) explode, burn or leak mercury or phosperous into the air. many times without anyone knowing. it smells weird in here.
- more energy to make then savings!

@GregWn Open a window, mercury concentration falls to safe kevels within minutes or even better don't break one or even better get an LED lightbulb :) p.s. No-one has ever died from exposure to mercury from their broken energy saving lightbulbs.

@idontcare80 Please back up with facts.

@TheDisproof But what if you break them in your house?

@noreaga12326 I agree that CFL's won't make a big difference but saying they are dangerous when compared to the huge and much larger amounts of mercury in the atmosphere due to fossil fuel power stations is misleading.
I don't listen to Al Gore, I listen to every major science academy on the planet and observe the evidence that Anthropogenic GW is the best explanation for the majority of warming since the 1970's.

@TheDisproof CFLs alone will not save the planet. Incandescents have been around for over 100 yrs old and nothing happened to the planet. Please dont tell me that you believe Al Gore's global warming speech. if so, then im about to crack up
I agree our politicians in congress and last few Presidents have low ratings for a reason. They are incompitent and don't read half of what they sign.
