@Shari123ify Use a hat.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go practice sporting clays not skeet.
That will sharpen your sense of depth and also will give you the lethal sense of lead much necessary for ducks.
Also check the tip I gave to @jordanj22250

There is no rule of thumb for your question.
Gut feeling, is like shooting a stone to a car tire rolling in front of you and pass it thru the center..
My advise, come from behind the bird, pull the trigger as you see the head and continue moving the gun to the front, that way you bb's will travel like in a horizontal line and will hit the bird. DO NOT STOP THE GUN.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck.

Thought you said the birds were flaring!!!??? seams odd that you'd be leading it down onto the water then!? lol

how far should u aim infront of them?
The goal is to keep the aim point below the whole bird. The bird should be about 1/2 inch above the aim point for a 30-40 yd. shot. Keep your follow-through going and you will be successful.
