U gotta be a submarine and stay down low...love it! I'd follow up in the same drill by laying a football on top the tackling dummy. Then when they tackle the ball will bounce around and they can hop off quick and work on fumble recover as well. Nice discipline with the boys also and good to hear your assts. positive feedback. (nice hands, outstanding, there ya go, way to stay on it haws). Most wrap up well too. Keeps the kids active and gives them good, strong repition. Good stuff again coach!

I like the positivity and discipline. I play middle school football and my 6th grade year I hadn't played any football for an organization before but my coach didn't teach us with any type of drills like these so I was a bad tackler and always got ran over and basically had to learn by myself. As you can imagine that was hard. So I'm happy to see coaches actually teaching football and fundementals and now I'm helping my dad coach a pee-wee team. And this will help both me and the peewee players

@UCSFootballAcademy We all make mistakes, and sometimes as coaches u try to pay a picture and it can sound wrong, but other than that i love your drills and i love the intensity and the discipline u stand for, keep up the great job and keep the videos comming, they have helped me quite a bit with my kids ;) though i use them mostly as a inspiration :)

This is one of the small handful of drills where several basics are covered simultaneously in one simple drill. I've seen variations of this drill under various names, and I like and use them. One thing I might humbly suggest is to not start the kids off the whistle, or off a "Ready, set, go!" One more basic you can add is to get them going off a ball snap (I use the ball at the end of a stick, easy on the back :) ). This teaches them not to start a play til the snap, preventing Offsides calls.

i write FOOTBALL and i get THIS! FUCK OFF!

this games for pussys

this teaches kids to make diving tackles. Not good. Try a form tackle at the end and slam the bag down.
There is tons of great things in this video no doubt about it, i like the intensity and definitely like the discipline, i play football, i coach football and i ref it, but there was one point of this video where i literally got pissed off, and thats the point where he tells the kids its okay to actually punch an opponent. Thats the wrong message to send to kids this age.

@Draikonss I appreciate the comments and I thought about editing the video before I posted as some of things I say and do are way over the top. Ultimately I decided to put it out "as is" so coaches could learn from the things I do well and learn from the things I do wrong (which is quite a bit). I certainly don't expect kids to punch a player and by filming my practices I learn when my communication is not good... I could pick out several things I would have done different if I could do it over.
