from the self titled "Crack The Sky" LP (1975), written by John Palumbo

Baltimore's adopted native sons, Crack the Sky.

For those not familiar with Baltimore (1980s references):
Hammerjacks was a popular concert venue.

Hon is part of Baltimore vernacular, used prolifically to greet both genders. Road signs saying "Welcome to Baltimore" are victims of the addition of "Hon" graffiti often. Baltimore hosts a yearly street festival called "Hon Fest".

The clock face says Bromo Seltzer.

If you saw live local music around Baltimore, you no doubt would meet aspiring musicians employed by PRS Guitars at some point.

98Rock WIYY was the source for gritty Rock & Roll serving up daily Electric Lunch. 'Nuff said there.

The King at 1:54 is from "The Enchanted Forest". a storybook theme park outside of Baltimore.

Resemblance to any persons or actual geographical location is purely non-intentional and for amusement purposes only...'cause some of the locations are imaginary Hon....

  • Thanks for this. I never heard this band before, but over the past few weeks delved into the band (and the recent album "Machine") and I think its fair to say they've changed over the years. I like both the new and the old. Broader range than Steely Dan, I'd say. Sort of like the difference between Yes and StarCastle.

  • @MulattaOblongatta the lineup changes of CTS demonstrate collective talent from all the members. Thanks for mentioning the Rolling Stone comparison to Steely Dan, in intelligent lyrical obscurity, they relate, but sound, no. In technical execution, I'd compare them on a level of King Crimson. Unfortunately, they are not well known, like StarCastle (who remind me of Kansas/Styx). Glad to know through YT people can discover CTS. Thank you ;.)

  • This song jams. Never heard of this band before. Thanks for enlightening me,Jo.

  • @cremesupreme serious jam, always amazed me CTS wasn't HUGE everywhere, very tight all around ;.)

  • Heard them at Hammerjacks, the Sandbar and Merriweather Post Pavillion. Partied with John P., knew all their bass lines and played CTS in band Crossroads. We need the studio cut of MIND BABY up on YOUTube, the basement benefit acoustic version is great but you talk about stereo separation (headphones comment). It's tighter than tight ;0)

  • The most amazing way to listen to this song is with headphones. As a matter of fact when their first album came out in 75 it was sent out to radio stations with a set of headphones to listen to it with. The whole first album is a revelation on original album with the headphones they clearly produced the thing with that in mind and it only truly comes to like in that format.

  • @0marigolds I know.unfortunatly CTS was on a label that wasn't prepared/didn't put in the nessesary effort to promote and advertise..they REALLY dropped the ball..by 1980's White Music, CTS had about 9-10 songs from their catalog that could be heard at any time on the rock radio stations here in Baltimore...You just figuerd they were big everywhere Japan?...of coarse! MAN could they play! Just a sonic wave right over you...as good and tight as any anybody out there...They still play & KICKASS

  • @UTubist512 Dude! very well put!! Blaring out of the speakers of your headphones!

  • Bury me with this tune in my pocket.

  • @0marigolds Yes you are right, not always what they like most, is music ..

    Они Супер!
