Minister Creek along the North Country National Scenic Trail in the proposed Minister Valley Wilderness Area, Allegheny National Forest.
This area was first proposed for National Recreation Area status in 2003 in the Citizens' Wilderness Proposal for Pennsylvania's Allegheny National Forest (see http://www.pawild.org ). The U.S. Forest Service then recommended it for wilderness designation as part of their Forest Planning undertaking in 2007.
Please write to your U.S. Representative and ask them to support wilderness designation for Minster Valley and the other eight recommended areas in the Citizens' Wilderness Proposal today. To find out who your U.S. Representative is, log on to:

To write your letter, log on to http://www.pawild.org and simply download the template letter in Word format located along the right-hand side of the front page. Edit it as you see fit to incorporate your own thoughts and feelings about why wilderness is important to you. Then just print it out and mail it in.
One more important thing: use the mailing address for one of the District offices for your U.S. Representative. Do NOT use the Washington, D.C. mailing address as that would take far to long to get in the hands of your legislator.
Also: please feel free to contact FAW today if you would like to schedule a day hike or overnight backpack trip into Minster Valley, or any of our other proposed areas. We are always available to lead hikes.
Thank you!
Contact Friends of Allegheny Wilderness at http://www.pawild.org to find out how.
