You should have used the art of the inferno or the lightning one. Murai has to be close for it to do any damage...unless you did that to protect yourself when he came to attack.

ive played this game for countless hours and ive found out that using the art of ice storm works better for me

You have to kill all berserkers on the place were you kill doku, on that arena berserkers will appear. Kill all and you will be rewarded with 5 Nippo. You can watch my video if you want.
