James Hansen, climate hero: Global Warming Crisis

James Hansen, climate whistle-blower, speaks at Earth Charter Climate Crisis Community Summit at the Community Church of New York, chaired by Frans Verhagen, about the presidential elections and the imperative of our dealing with the global warming crisis. He's best known for his pointing out on 60 Minutes that the White House edited climate-related press releases by federal agencies to make global warming seem less threatening. His testimony on climate change to congressional committees in the 1980s helped raise broad awareness of the global warming issue. Here he continues advocacy of action to limit the impacts of climate change. He heads the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York City and is Adjunct Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University.

To use up so much of the planet's stored reserve of solar energy, most of the oil it took 200 million years to produce, to blow it in about 100 years is a clue our civilization is corrupt and irresponsible.
