The Portland Cello Project is a rotating cast of 8-16 classically trained cellists known for mixing Salt 'n' Pepa with Bach and providing the lush backdrop for some of indie rock's most compelling voices. They've performed cello covers of Britney Spears' "Toxic" and Outkast's "Hey Ya," and teamed up with the Dandy Warhols, folk singer Laura Gibson, and members of the Decemberists, among others, to create rich, layered music that is anything but classical.
Here they play their cover of Toxic.
One person plays the bass.

Interesting to hear it without vocals -- I think it's a faster tempo than when they are accompanying a singer.

'toxic: acting as or having the effect of a poison'. oh the dramatic intensity of strings truly turn this 'toxic,' i just bought this tune on itunes. you think they're good here, listen to them in a serious studio. at 2:40 they add in electronica i do believe, and you are forced to close your eyes
