As you watch this, notice how much she uses the word friend. This train wreck of a variety show had a lot of occurrences of the word friend. I submit that whoever was ultimately responsible for this was no "friend" of George Lucas or Star Wars Fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bea Arthur, who plays a bartender in the Mos Eisley cantina, sings "Good Night, But Not Goodbye" to the same set of aliens that were seen in the Cantina in A New Hope, including, as the back-up musicians, the Cantina's resident group, Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes.

  • @PekoponTAS Thank you! My thoughts exactly!

  • Say what you will about the Star Wars Holiday Special, but I sat through the whole thing, and this cantina segment was the ONLY good part. I actually really like this scene, and it's the only thing in the entire special that works. Bea Arthur saved this special from being a COMPLETE waste, and while it most certainly didn't save the whole special, Bea deserves credit for making at least one part of this mess salvageable. We'll miss ya Bea.You'll always be a great Star Wars character to me.

  • @thegirlwhosapearl You ever try closing a place during last call? Its like herding cats.

  • @danielchance - why didn't your family like her? I absolutely adore her :)

  • figran Dan and the Model Nodes just couldnt get a gig after this. they busk now. On Hoth. Sad really.

  • There's not enough drugs on this planet to make this watchable.

  • you know what? even though i've never knew who bea arthur is, from 6:38 to 7:36 are the scenes that makes me feel more sorry about her, it almost makes me cry

    sorry for my shitty english

  • I don't get it. So it seems like from now on she has to close the bar a little earlier every night (because of the empire's curfew) but they are acting like its closing down forever. Which one is it? What is going on here?

and also, OHHHHHHH NO! it looks like Bea is going to hook up with that weird blond guy after everybody leaves.

  • Ludlo you're heartless!

  • This make me mildly nostalgic for 1978, back when they had access to the full cantina set and all the original costumes. I wonder how Walrusman was able to replace his arm.
