What about the treatment of shingles? Is there a cure or just a way that you can hopefully avoid a lot of pain and further complications? This virus that causes shingles stems from those chicken pox that you may have had years before. It will remain in the body and most of the time people will never even know that it is there. But there are times that it may come back and be activated again. This is when you will get the rashes or blisters that are called shingles.
With shingles you need to seek out treatment quickly, they say that it is best to have the medication within those first 72 hours of an outbreak. This way you will hopefully be able to avoid those complications that will lead to more pain and suffering. So you noticed some lesions or rashes and know that you have shingles. You will go to see your doctor and at that point they will be treating you for the pain that you are in. This can be done by not only applying cold compresses to the skin, but with antiviral medication.
It is very important that when a blister dries up that you keep that area clean. Or if you have a scab that falls off the same process needs to be kept. Cleaning that area with a soap that is mild and will help keep the infection of any bacteria out of that spot. If not you may find that you have Postherpetic Neuralgia, and that is a lot worse. Causing a lot more pain, and normally about 10 or 15 percent of people will get this complication from shingles
