GUESS WHAT?? This week, my incredibly amazing dad is turning... old. So. In honor of this momentous occasion, I decided it was time to immortalize in song all of the important lessons he's taught me so far. He's great. Just sayin.
THE THINGS I'VE LEARNED FROM MY DAD
Music and Lyrics by Alyssa May Gold
Because he often defends the guilty gents
I've learned that fair trials aren't just for the innocent
Everybody's side deserves some recognition
Especially if it's gonna help pay tuition
And oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
The things I've learned from my dad
He taught me money can buy happiness but to a limit
Cause in the end your family is why you're in it
We love being together and truth be told
Nobody recesses quite like a Gold
And oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
The things I've learned from my dad
He's passed along his ability
At 1 AM in Brooklyn to hail a taxi
He's done the Tooth Fairy and the Santa things
And fooled me though they both had the same handwriting
But most of all I've learned unconditional love
Cause that's what comes to mind when I'm thinking of
The man who answers the phone even if he's in a meeting
Just in case it's something real important that I'm needing
Even if we don't always have time for a chat
I know without a doubt he'll keep calling back
Cause that's what you do when you're Gold, Stu
And the father of two young ladies who
Love the things they've learned from their
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh the things I've learned from my dad.
