TD Stage 5 Theme: The Dream Palace Great Mausoleum

This is the Stage 5 theme from Touhou 13: Ten Desires

Much like Chireiden, this place is called Shinreibyou.

The history behind Ten Desires is very confusing, but I think I have it sorted:

Miko is the Touhou version of Prince Shoutoku, who was important in the spread of Buddhism in Japan. But wait, Byakuren is a Buddhist, so why are they fightin-- oh yeah, Miko supports humans, making her a "Saint" of sorts to mankind. Byakuren, on the other hand, supports Youkai, making her an enemy. Am I right so far?

Anyway, Seiga, Futo and Tojiko are trying to resurrect her, got that. Basically UFO all over again.

Tojiko is connected to Miko in the sense that the person she is based off, Soga no Umako, was Prince Shoutoku's consort. Futo's clan, the Mononobe's, was an enemy of the Soga clan, so I understand why a lot of fanart has them separate with Futo on her own, since Soga no Umako had a war with Mononobe no Moriya and killed him and his allies. Nice.

HOWEVER. Futo is not based off of Mononobe no Moriya, and is in fact based off of his younger sister (I think) Mononobe no Futsuhime, who was I think married to Soga no Umako, making her a traitor to the Mononobe clan. Are we getting this?

So instead of fighting each other, they're all working together to resurrect Miko so they can go kick Byakuren's butt.

Also, to note, Miko was a secretly a Taoist in order to gain immortality, and spread Buddhism to weaken the masses so only she, Futo, Tojiko, and Seiga become immortal. It sounds a lot more complicated when you write it out.

but you forgot that Seiga had taught Miko, Futo, and Tojiko Taoism which they all favored over Buddhism, so they converted. They all became shikaisen to fake death, gain immortality, and be resurrected later. But coincidentally (or purposefully) Byakuren built her shrine right over Miko's resting place. Since Byakuren was a buddhist, Miko was furious at her since a buddhist monk basically bulldozed this "saintly" taoist's resting place. TH14, holy wars? >:O
