There's a carrier in our office that has a doctor's waiver allowing him to drive on the sidewalk. He has 2 discs in his back that are almost gone, and has had multiple back surgeries because this job is very physically taxing, especially if you have a driving route. Don't judge. You don't know.

What kind of idiot puts the mailboxes on the yard side of the sidewalk? They belong on the street side, where the mailman can reach them without driving on the sidewalk. Don't blame the mailman, blame every single homeowner on that street who put their mailbox where the mailman can't get to it.

I don't think the "uspostal service" is going to be "outta of a job" because they drive up to the boxes instead of walking up to them. I'm pretty sure that if a postal worker took 8 hours to deliver a route by truck, but 13 hours to deliver by foot, then (this might be complicated for you) it may cost the company much more to pay him to work 65 hours a week instead of 40 hours a week. Imagine the cost of your stamps when THAT happens, smart ass.

Considering he has to park turn the engine off unbuckle then get back in buckle up start the truck back up and drive off it makes more sense to drive up to the box time wise.
