Filmed on Aug. 30 on the north western coast of the island of Dominica. Earl hit north of Dominica in Antigua yesterday. This is the Caribbean Sea you are looking at-- which is usually blue green in color and as calm as water sitting in a bathtub. Video was shot with my camera, hence the circa 1962 look-my apologies.

  • @Aleria57 : Dominica faired well as the system was so north of us. Haven't heard of any damage, just seen remnants of rock slides.

  • @radiodiary1 They knew the basic patterns of when hurricanes occurred most often and left in advance, much like today. If they were there when it hit, they suffered. So many wrecks on the reefs.

Thanks for the video. We were anchored there just a few months ago and loved Dominica best of all the Caribbean islands. We hope the lovely people did not suffer any damage.

  • **SO THIS IS AUGUST 30 , 2010....HOW DID A ..SAILOR..KNOW IF A HURRICANE WAS COMMING......200 YEARS AGO?......**
