this is an 04 honda cr 85. most single cylinder 2 strokes will be very similar but i recomend you get a service manual for your specific bike. the ring gap measurement is in milimeters by the way. make sure you line your ring gap up with the locator pin on the piston. you will need a torque wrench, a ratchet with 12mm socket, a pick for the circlip, a rubber hammer, feeler guage and a small file. parts needed are a piston, ring, wrist pin, wrist pin bearing, head gasket base gasket and circlips. after you rebuild the motor you need to heat cycle it 3-5 times before you ride it. to heat cycle you need to warm the bike up to operating temperature then let it cool down completely.

For the people who are rating this video down, let me know what needs to be done to make it better. I have never made a video like this before. I just needed to rebuild the motor so I decided to film it.

  • how many miles do you have to change ?

  • @meloaleo it depends on the type of riding you do. consult your owners manual for you specific bike.

  • Great Job! Very detailed and enough information for someone to rebuild the top end.

  • @michaelhayworth Thanks. I mostly did this to show just how easy it is so people will realize there is no reason to spend big money at a dealership on such a simple job.
