This is a video showing my henna process. This is the first part of a two part video which includes me mixing and applying the henna. Stay tuned for the results!! I hope it comes out nice! - luvbeinnatural

Henna Mix Ingredients: I use water in my henna mix instead of an acidic liquid because I don't want a big color change if any at all. But If you want more color change, you may want to use an acidic liquid like apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, etc.

100g Jamila Henna (One Box)
1 cup water
2tbsp olive oil

  • O seu cabelo é bonito,,,

  • @VaniaSantacatarina - Thank you!! I will be doing henna again really soon!! :0)

  • @luvbeinnatural Hmm...that's interesting. I'll have to do more research on the oxidizing. Thanks for the info. I think the acidic liquid releases more of the dye because once I've applied my henna my gloves are completely stained like a dark orange color. Your gloves don't look the same as mine do. So maybe that's the difference is using the acidic liquid. My understanding from previous research is the dye attaches to the protein in your hair which makes your hair strands stronger.

  • @rockthenatural - yeah... you're right, my gloves don't get stained right away, not untill further into the application. ill have to do more research too. There's so much info out there, and it's not all the same. If only it were easier! Lol! :0)

  • @NaturalNola86 - I love henna as well! It makes my hair feel so good!

  • @rockthenatural - Maybe I will think about using that next time. I just have my henna sit out over night. The air oxidizes the henna which causes the dye to release. When there is a brownish paste over the green henna underneath, that is when you know the dye has released in your henna. The acidic liquid might allow the dye to release a little quicker, but it's not a must. The main thing you need is time! But I will keep that suggestion in mind! Thanks! :0)

  • @rockthenatural Yeah I use lemon juice and it comes out great. I love henna.

  • Here is just a quick tip when using henna. Henna has to be mixed with a mild acidic liquid in order for the dye to be released. Henna doesn't benefit the hair without the dye release. I usually add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to my mixture. This is enough to release the dye. You can also use lemon juice or any other acidic liquid. Just be careful not to use too much. Type in "henna dye release" in your search engine for examples of what the dye release looks like. Hope that helps.

  • Can't wait to see the results!!! I'm thinking about doing henna on my hair too!
