Evelyn Glennie: How to listen to music with your whole body

I've just listened to this incredible video for the second time. First time it took me a while to realize that Evelyn is listening through her body. Today I tried holding my speakers in hand, trying to hear the was she does. I actually felt some vibrations. It was very interesting. I am very grateful for the people like Evelyin; people who through perseverance and beauty are opening new worlds to us.

i always thought deaf people cannot speak..

She's been deaf since age 12. So, plenty of time to learn to speak.

LovesGent, that is an idiotic question.  Do you not consider the drum an instrument?

wow.she does have the scott accent.There is more than science can yet explain or simply my knowldge of it. Why with a great musical spirit wasnt she given an instrument instead of a drum.

She didn't become deaf until the age of twelve. She had already learned to speak by then.

What is the piece she is playing on snare at the beginning??? The name of it.
