The self inductance of a stator winding varies because the permeance of flux linkage path of a salient pole machine varies due to rotor position. Lm thus is a measure of the saliency of a machine. In a perfect round rotor machine Lm would be zero.

at 13:24 , what is "Lm" in the self-inductance equations?
where does this "Lm" come from?
anybody know?
