Autumn in the Gaza Strip means it is the peak season for trapping migrating quails flying in from the Mediterranean Sea.

Dozens of men prepare their silk nets to trap the migrating quail.

But the business of bird trapping is steadily declining and dwindling into an obscure hobby.

Whereas one person might have caught up to a 100 birds a day during Autumn in the 1960s, today, one would be lucky to catch two.

Locals say that this hunting season has been one of the poorest they have ever seen.

Al Jazeera's Nicole Johnston reports from Khan Younis.

  • Israel made it a no fly zone. That's why there are less birds. All kidding aside, it's sad.

  • Nice to hear about something other than genocide in Gaza.

But lets not forget their struggles.
