The White Leghorn chickens are almost 2 weeks

old when they are finally let out of their

Reflectix insulated ring. They are set free

into their chicken taj mahal (really large

chicken house aka coop). They have a huge

house for such small chicks, but they will

grow into it. It is a 16 x 8 house for 54

chickens. They will also have freedom to go in

and out of their yard as soon as they are old

enough. The roosting poles were already

installed and it's a good thing. The chicks

took to them right away. I am totally amazed

at how fast they are learning and doing new
things. Everyone has told me that chickens

don't like change. Well, my chickens seem to

be thriving on it. They are practicing on

their poles. They are flying. They jump up on

me so that I will hold them everytime I go in

the house. I go in to check on them several

times each day.

They are such a blessing. I really love taking

care of them. Soon I will be giving them some

peat moss so they can take their dust baths.

That is going to be so fun.

Also, the new babies will be arriving in a few

days. There will be Black Stars, Barred Rocks,

and Rhode Island Reds. Cute, cute, cute.

Stay tuned for more of the chicken video

journals.

  • Thank you so much, I enjoyed it so we'll!

  • What is the brooding ring made out of?

We use cardboard for our turkeys (see my video)

And we use a combination of lights and gas heaters.

Nice video, good luck with your new babys!

  • can you make a other one of these with them outside and so we can see how big they are
