This is the same batch of hybrid tilapia shown in the previous two videos. The fry are now 2 weeks old and look like real fish, just small.

  • what cross are these?

  • @lakesidewelder

    T. horonorum Male, O. mossambica female.

  • Thanks for the reply most you tubers dont take the time. we are thinking od using this type fish to keep the bottoms of our Snapping Turtle tanks clean. They will be fenced off from the turtles by fencing of course or the turtles would eat them. After the eat all the fallen food and get to size we figured we could sell them as well? Are these type fish good for humans to eat like in the stores? Thanks again for the reply Cool Video too Joseph T (fly2000jtb)

  • Tilapia can be co-cropped with other animals and can take advantage of left over food energy in poo. Check out the Dirty Jobs episode where they are grown with hybrid striped bass. You need to purge the fish for a week (clean water & no food) before you sell them for food. This gets rid of the gamey taste.

  • where did you get the eggs? we mean do you breed them, or buy them? dirty jobs did a story about them at a farm. cool video gave ya a 5 Post more, Joseph T (fly2000jtb)

  • I breed them, so I always have loads of eggs.

  • Im looking for tilapia in Ontario canada. Any body can help?

  • Would anyone know where I could get Tilapia in the UK? proving harder then i thought it would be.

  • @lakesidewelder do you sell the breeder's?

  • Yes that is where we had seen the fish and gotten the idea because Snapping Turtles eat real sloppy! Hard food falls out of there mouths and then causes the water to get real milky dirty etc... Thanks for the info on this type fish you have helped greatly. Joseph T (fly2000jtb)
