Both were great backs both are in the hall of fame so I don't know why everyone is trying to compare the two. When clearly they are both awesome. Everyone has their own way of getting things done

Always saying "Barry was better for the years he played.." Well who cares.. The dude quit. Emmitt didn't.. Emmitt has the better numbers. Barry doesn't. It's not emmitt's fault that Barry stopped playing. Emmitt finished his career. And I'm sure if you asked them both today.. Emmitt would feel way better about what he accomplished.

I laughed pretty good when I saw that you think Smith had better vision and Instinct then Barry............You people only watch highlight reels of Barry Sanders. I watched his whole career, every game, the guy had better everything then Emmitt. I'm sorry your all fanboys but you guys dont know shit. Championships??? For the years Barry played, he was better than Emmitt. The only reason Emmitt surpassed Sanders in the books is because the additional years and the WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better offensive line he had. Emmitt was a great back, but not as great as Barry. Sorry your a Cowboys fan but he will never be better then Barry, NEVER.

@maroinmybones If I want a running back who would play consistent, through pain and injury, and who wins championships -- Emmitt Smith. 1993 Dallas went 0-2 without him and lost one game that year with him. That is what you call an impact player. As said by another, Barry could've played for a winner, but he was happy with obscurity in the Lions (by resigning). That is not a good competitors attitude.

I'm a huge Cowboys fan and I have high regard for Emmitt Smith. But people are indirectly speaking of Walter Payton mentioning a player who died of steroids is so far from the truth. Walter got cancer. Period. Let him rest with his name intact.

@jjjonesy27 the funny thing is the haters say he played behind a great line..true..but they failed to watch Emmit make his money after the line of scrimage..ie past that great line and evade/break tackles or just plain steamroll defenders over...Barry was a great running back..sure...but as i said...show me your pedigree. ..sorry Barry doesnt have it ...Emmit does the all time rushing record/ 3 rings/ and rushing titles for several years...and unlike Barry he played hurt
