I wouldn't give this new direction all that much credit, but it's just Darkthrone playing what they wanna play the way they want to play it. That's them in a nutshell. This is good beer drinking music though.

i don´t see darkthrone like a punk band i see more like the rock of the 80 like motorhead, bathory etc. with black metal influences but never sound like punk band for me,...greetings from argentina..MALVINAS ARGENTINAS!!

..Some people say Darkthrone have a new ''commercial'' sound..but those people are complete and utter morons. If anything Darkthrone are now more underground and raw sounding than they EVER were. Blaze In the Northern Sky and Transilvanian Hunger are great albums but even those albums were pretty much following a blueprint already set by Quorthon of Bathory. With this new sound Darkthrone have managed to take that raw black metal sound and merge it with crust punk to create this uniqueness.
