  • Chet Atkins once remarked that "Kenny Poole is the best damned guitar player on the planet." It was true. Like Zamplify, I used to hear him regularly at Mullane's (and many other places) in Cincinnati. From the first time I heard him to the last, he never missed a note -- a fabulous musician, and a wonderful guy. He's truly missed.

  • I'm just guessing that they probably knew each other through Clyde Edwards in Cinci that worked for Baldwin/Gretsch and designed their SuperChet.

  • Great!!!

  • can anyone help me find a CD of Kenny's? thanks.

  • Kenny was very ill with cancer when he did this. ..(not napping, you are kidding, right?) He was a beautiful cat and no one played like he did. We loved him.

  • @Benj888 His protégé's Andy Brown/stringdamper, outta Chicago(Hi Andy),

Gawd.....to think Kenny was actually taking a nap when he played this, then everybody woke him up with the clapping, way to go people. Unworldly genius.

  • Amazing!!!

  • The only person who probably knew as many flawless voicings and chord changes as Kenny was Lenny Breau. My name is Benny so that means I have a CHANCE!

  • That might be the case -- I really don't know. Kenny, Cal Collins and Bugsy Brandenburg were three amazing guitarists. The three of them used to live together (or across the hall from one another) and played together regularly many, many years ago. I would LOVE to have recordings of THOSE session! All three died within about a two year period. Cincinnati will never be the same. There's a huge musical void today.

  • I used to work at Mullane's in Cinci so long ago and he would play there once a week, what a treat!
