On June 16, 2007, Gates Avenue in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn was renamed Sonny Abubadika Carson Avenue by the community. This was an indigenous rejection, by Afrikans, of government decrees and white opinion. This was an autonomous act, and black nationalism prevailed. A small rare victory for the underdog.
Nobody is going to remember that long assed name. Gates ave is fine as gates ave. Why don't you change another street name.
